Feathering Fridays: A Creative Jaunt…

This past week has brought me the great delight of a stay-cation. Part of the menu for this little banquet of leisure was today’s Mall Madness. [okay, not really madness, but I do enjoy alliteration!]

Back to the mall jaunt.

I was in the mood for a little window shopping/people watching and the mall was the place to be for this activity. I strolled through the shoe department at Macy’s—always a treat—and then onto the cosmetics village. I moved leisurely, taking in the spring sights. Next stop, a quick pass in and out of J Crew. Got to say—nothing different than many other places but much higher prices.

My favorite spot is Ann Taylor. I do a fair amount of online business with them but like to see the garments up close and personal from time to time. It seems as though the stores are smaller, less merchandise since more folks are buying online. Just a guess here.

Next stop, Michael Kors and Kate Spade. While I did not plan on making purchases at either spot, I did enjoy touching the garments. I am a textile nut, after all…

A color correction mini make-over at Sephora was just across the “street” from Kate Spade. A lovely woman named Norma color coded and matched my skin to a variety of products. She utilized the Sephora-Pantone correction palette to work with the challenge of my “sun spots” and did a very lovely job! She finished the process with Josie Maran foundation and Laura Mercier translucent loose powder. NOTE: I do not wear finishing powder but just let her do it. Again, no purchases here as I prefer to wear a make-over to see how it endures. Unfortunately, the foundation migrated onto my white turtleneck (ouch) which tells me that Josie will not be a part of my future routine.

I continued on to Hannah Anderson to look over baby clothes-myeh. Enough said.

Into Nordstrom for a quick hike through to see what would catch my eye. A bit saturated at this point, I pretty much was in and out.

Final stop—LOFT, Ann Taylor’s little sister. Saw a few nice pieces here, too.

One tall skinny decaf caramel macchiato later, I stepped back into AT for a pair of trousers and 2 ivory pullovers. The trousers had to be ordered as the color I wanted—deep olive—was not available in my size in that shop. They are perfect—dressy, tailored, and superb in both color and fit. The tops were 40% off. Nice all around.

All in all, a fun field trip! Saw many families out and about and of course, a ton of teens.

Just a note about that—3 young girls all dressed in the same tennies, oversized cardigans and tiny floral printed cotton casual dresses. OMG—so glad I am not a teen anymore…

Happy Friday, no matter how you feather it!
